Abstract:To evaluate the clinical efficacy of endoscopic mucosal resection with grasping forceps (EMR-G) for the treatment of superficial submucosal tumors of the esophagus with a diameter of ≤20 mm, clinical data of 30 patients with esophageal superficial submucosal tumors admitted to the Endoscopy Center of Shantou Central Hospital from January 2022 to November 2024 were retrospectively analyzed. Patients were divided into the endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) group and the EMR-G group according to the surgical method. The en bloc resection rate, operative time, surgical cost, and length of hospital stay were compared between the two groups. Complete resection was achieved in all cases of both groups. Compared with the ESD group, the EMR-G group showed significantly shorter operative time (5.40±0.91 min VS 25.53±3.29 min, t=-22.83, P0.001), lower surgical costs (2 355.53±210.76 yuan VS 7 851.73±381.34 yuan, t=-48.854, P0.001), and shorter postoperative hospital stay (1.20±0.41 d VS 2.02±0.53 d, t=-4.583, P0.001). EMR-G treatment for superficial submucosal tumors of the esophagus with a diameter of ≤20 mm can shorten the operation time, save surgical costs, reduce the postoperative hospital stay, and achieve complete tumor resection, which is of promotional value.
