Abstract:Inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) is a complex group of inflammatory disorders mainly affecting the gastrointestinal tract with an unknown etiology, which is characterized by difficult diagnosis and differentiation. The number of affected individuals is rapidly increasing with a large part of difficult‑to‑treat patients. With the rapid development of digestive endoscopy in China, its application in the diagnosis and treatment of IBD is constantly evolving. Therefore, led by Colorectal Group, Digestive Endoscopy Branch of Chinese Medical Association and supported by domestic digestive and endoscopy experts, this consensus has been reached. This consensus primarily focuses on the following five aspects: indications and contraindications for endoscopic examination in IBD, endoscopic diagnosis of ulcerative colitis, endoscopic diagnosis of Crohn disease, endoscopic treatment of IBD, and endoscopic follow‑up of IBD, providing references for the endoscopic diagnosis and treatment of IBD for improving the overall quality of IBD endoscopic care in China.
