Abstract:With the rapid advances in children"s digestive endoscopy technology, colonoscopy has become an essential diagnostic and therapeutic tool for gastrointestinal diseases in children. Good bowel preparation is a prerequisite for the smooth progress of colonoscopy while influencing factors have been studied extensively in adult bowel preparation. However, few studies still exist on the influencing factors of bowel preparation in children. Due to the apparent differences in physiological and psychological characteristics between children and adults, the influencing factors in bowel preparation among children differ from adults. Therefore, this review mainly summarizes the factors affecting the quality of children"s bowel preparation in individual factors, previous disease history, bowel preparation plan, bowel preparation education, defecation during bowel preparation, and the interval between bowel preparation and examination.
